artist in World Wars I and II. In the 1930s
he was one of a group of artists promoting
avant-garde styles in the UK. Two of his most
celebrated works are Totes Meer/Dead Sea
(Tate Gallery, London) and The Battle of
Britain (Imperial War Museum, London).
